The Watervliet Panther middle school football team traveled to Saugatuck last night and came away with the win by a score of 34-8. There was no doubt the weather played a big part in the slow start the Panthers had, battling the elements of rain, sleet, and heavy winds, starting off the game with 2 fumbles that led to giving up a safety within the first minute of the game. After kicking off from our own 20, it didn’t take long for Saugatuck to find the end zone and put the Panthers down 8-0. This was a wake up call for our defense as they went the rest of the game shutting down their wing-T offense. It took until the second half for our offense to come alive but once it did we couldn’t be stopped. Scoring for the Panthers were Levi Getz, JT Davis, Riley Hess, and Chase Tremblay. Next Wednesday the Panthers are at home for their final game of the season as they try to complete an undefeated season. Game time is 5pm. Please make an effort to come out and watch an exciting group of young men and see what the future looks like for Panther football. Go Panthers!
