The JV Volleyball team made the trip to River Valley to participate in an invitational. They started the day against host River Valley. After a slow start, the team started to find their groove, winning game one 25-17. Game two started with a bit of back and forth, but five points by Aaliyah Hinch and four from Emilie Filmore gave the Panthers the win 25-12. Up next was Colon, and the Panthers controlled the pace from the start. Addison Riley served up a five point run, followed by seven more points from Abbi Roberts which sealed game one, 25-15. Long serving runs again set the pace in game two. Six more points from Addison Riley, and four from Allie Pline contributed to the 25-16 win.
As the first seed into bracket play, the Panthers came up against the Gobles Tigers. A true battle, going three games, this match was some of the best volleyball of the day. After falling behind, 5-11, the Panthers battled back to win game one 25-23. Game two was extremely intense with both teams having an 8 point run (served up for Watervliet by Aaliyah Hinch) but the Panthers fell short 22-25. Passing and communication proved to be a problem in game three and Watervliet lost 10-15.
The girls showed tremendous improvement and refused to stop fighting for the win. They are going to be exciting to watch this season.
