On a beautiful night to play soccer in Fennville, the boys varsity soccer team finished their regular season with a 7-1 loss to conference powerhouse Fennville. The loss ended Watervliet’ Inaugural regular season at 7-6-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the conference. Not bad for a first year team with a loaded roster of Freshman and Sophomores
At the 13 minute mark of the 1st half, Nathan Isbrecht took a feed from Brennan Bornas and beat two defenders and cut around the goalkeeper and put the ball in the back of the net for Watervliet’ lone goal of the evening . That gave the team a short lived 1-0 lead. In the next minute, Zach Hastings made a save on a penalty kick which was great to see as not many keepers stop PK’s. However Fennville’s senior dominated team was able to take control and win the game going away after that.
The team is looking forward to it’s first ever District game this Friday against #1 seed South Haven at 5 pm in South Haven. We hope to see all of our fans at the game supporting our kids in the teams first ever playoff game. See you all Friday.
