On a beautiful night in Saugatuck, minus the enormous amount of bugs flying around, the boys varsity soccer team started slow, missing numerous opportunities in the first half before settling down to win 7-1 during a chippy 2nd half.

Bryan Perez, Norberto Palacios, and German Casiano all had to leave the game in the 2nd half with minor injuries. All should be fine for the game on Thursday.

Brennan Bornas opened the scoring in the 1st half, taking a nice feed and drove down the right side. He attempted to cross the ball to another player but it hit the defenders knee and went into the net. This was in the 6th minute..Saugatuck tied it in the 32nd minute for their only goal of the even.

In the 39th minute just before half, Brady Bornas led Brennan down the right side with a beautiful pass, Brennan’s shot was stopped by the keeper but Nathan Isbrecht was there to put in the rebound for a 2-1 halftime lead. This goal seemed to give the kids confidence and momentum going into the 2nd half.

In the 48th minute, Brennan raced pass the defense, faked out the Keeper and scored for a 3-1 lead. Brady then scored in the 53rd minute on a nice feed from Ryan Knapp to make it 4-1.

In the 60th minute, Brennan scored off an assist from Brady, Nathan Isbrecht scored off an assist from Brennan in the 66th minute, and Brennan scored his 4th goal of the game in the 71st minute off a nice feed from Robert Kraklau.

The defense of Robert, Andrew Chisek, Alex Isbrecht, Eric Perez, Dominic Mandujano and Ryan Knapp were outstanding all even. They continually frustrated the Saugatuck boys with their speed and relentless play. Zeke Alvarado played the 2nd half as keeper and was rock solid.

The Panthers improve to 4-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. A nice 3 game winning streak outscoring opponents 23-1. Our next game is in Delton Kellogg on Thursday. Please join us to see if the Panthers can keep up the momentum.
