Zach Hastings made a tremendous save late in the 2nd half to keep the shutout alive, and the defense of Robert Kraklau, Andrew Chisek, Eric Perez-Cruz, Dominic Mandujano, Alex Isbrecht, Mason Pennington and Ryan Knapp completely locked down the Coloma attack all night as Watervliet rolled to a 4-0 win in a cold and drizzly game at Panther Stadium last night.
All night long the defensive speed of Watervliet kept the ball out of harms way and away from the comet forwards, continually frustrating them and not allowing many quality chances. When those chances did arrive, Zach was up to the task to keep Coloma off the board.
Nathan Isbrecht (17th and 42nd) scored two goals and added an assist. Brennan Bornas (18th and 22nd) also had two goals and an assist. Brady Bornas collected assists on the first three goals of the night for the Panthers.
This was a total team effort. Top to bottom everyone played their part well. After blowing a 3-0 lead Monday night, this time the team was determined not to let that happen and they came out flying in the 2nd half to make sure Coloma would not make a game of it. The kids were fired up all night long, the bench was on their feet most of the game, the electricity was in the air as usually happens when you face your cross town rival.
The Panthers improved to 7-5-2 on the season and 4-1-1 in the conference. Our final regular season game is Monday night in Fennville against the 14-1 squad from Fennville. Should be a fun time, hope to see you all there.
