The Watervliet Panthers lost a tough game to the Hartford Indians in Hartford on Saturday night.
Despite a very slow start, going down 12-2 early in the 1st, the Panthers battled back to be down 1 point at halftime. The Indians early run was stopped abruptly as Garrett Matthews caught fire and hit 4 three-pointers on 4 consecutive possessions.
The Panthers locked in defensively in the 3rd quarter, only allowing 7 Hartford points, which saw the Panthers take a 3 point lead into the 4th.
Early in the final period, Watervliet continued to step on the gas, pushing their lead to 8 points at one time. The Indians didn’t go away without a fight, however. They continued to shoot the three ball, and they started to drop in a hurry, hitting 4 threes in the final 4 minutes of the game. The Panthers couldn’t find an answer, losing by a final score of 68-65.
