The Panthers played against a tough and tenacious Lawrence Tiger team tonight. The Panthers defense got off to a great start with spark plugs Keegan Adams and Logan Geisler inserted into the starting lineup, but they struggled to score. The Panthers led 5-2 after one quarter and then were out scored 11-7 in the second quarter and trailed by one at half-time. In the second half, the Panthers out scored the Tigers 33-17 and held off the pesky Tigers. Momentum really swung in the fourth quarter when Da’Naveon Gilbert took over on defense and offense for about a 3 minute stretch. He scored 10 points, had five steals and two assists in this stretch including two big three pointers. As his dad said, “It must have been all those stairs.” Cole Pline and Dylan Lawson came alive in the second half and the big men helped back up the defense. Lawson finished with 10 points and Pline netted 6 tough baskets. Kade Van Niel played his heart out all night and finished with 4 points. Rico Hall had 4, Kris Lenox 3, QuaShawn Jackson 3, Jay’Shawn Scruggs had 2 and Logan Geisler had 1.
