Watervliet Middle School Panthers started the season off right tonight with a 32-8 victory over the visiting Comets of Coloma. The Panthers jumped out to an early on the opening drive when Danny Poupard scoped up a loose ball fumble taking it 26 yards for the touchdown, at that point the team never looked back scoring on every offensive possession. The starting defense was stingy all night allowing just four first downs. The first possession of the second half started off the same as the first half with the Panthers driving down the field and scoring to go up to 32-0. This allowed many of the starters to rest the second half giving the younger guys some much needed game experience. Leading the Panthers offensively was Poupard with 92 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns, also with a reception for 8 yards. Tyson Williams went 6-7 on the night for 109 yards and 2 touchdowns, also rushing for 37 yards. Kaiden Bierhalter had 1 reception for 26 yards and a touchdown while Wyatt Epple had 2 catches for 40 yards and a touchdown. The defense was lead by Dillon Gardiner with 6 tackles, Royce Daugherty with 5 tackles and Cayden (Wildman) Wildeman with 4. This puts the Panthers at 1-0 on the young season.
