The Watervliet Middle School Panthers bounces back from its first loss of the season last week to come from behind to tie Schoolcraft tonight 12-12. (Unfortunately, middle school does not have overtime.) The Panthers got off to a not so stellar start, not finding the endzone in the first half. Defensively the Panthers played tough only allowing 2 touchdown and coming up with big stops when they needed to. With the Panthers down 12 points with 7 minutes to go in the game, Tyson Williams hit Wyatt Epple in stride on a 35 yard catch and run corner route to find the endzone for the first touchdown of the night. Following an onside recovery, the second of 2 recoveries on the night, the Panthers were driving again when unfortunately we put the ball on the ground with the Eagles recovering. Then the defense stepped up allowing us to get the ball back on our half of the field with 2:40 remaining in the game. Running our hurry up, Nascar package, it only took the Panthers just four plays to once again find the endzone on a 40 yard bomb from Williams to a diving Kaden Bierhalter at the goal line with 1:26 left on the clock. This was made possible by some outstanding blocking by Perry Rowe, Royce Daughtry, Owen Tackitt, Cayden Wildeman, and Kaden J. This moves the Middle School Panthers record to 2-1-1 on the season as they travel next week to take on the Blue Devils of Lawton. Game time is 5pm.
