Game Recap
The Watervliet Panthers fought off a scrappy Lawton team Friday night to win their 8th game of the season. After a week and a half off from games because of bad weather, the Panthers came in ready to make a statement. The boys came out fast taking a 21-8 lead into the second quarter only to see that lead dwindle to three points in the 3rd quarter. But, the Panthers hung strong and took over in the 4th quarter and won by a final tally of 73-54. Watervliet was lead on offense by Luke Traver with 17, Brian Alden with 15, and RJ Rudel with 12. It was a great team win. Nice job boys.

The Lady Panthers defended their home court against a tenacious Lawrence Tiger team. After holding the Tigers scoreless in the first half, the Panthers lost a little momentum in the third period and found themselves in a cat fight. Zoe Smith led the Panthers with 8 points, Ariona Rowe added 7, and Ellie Troyer added 6 points and a BIG basket in the closing seconds to seal a 20 to 17 victory.  Nice job Ladies and thank you to the students who came and cheered their classmates on to victory.

Game Recap
The varsity boys basketball team stormed out to an early lead Tuesday night against the Gobles Tigers and never looked back. For the first time all year the Panthers had a taste of their own medicine, being pressed by the Tigers. It started off a little slow but in the end the boys figured the press out and were able to score off their press breaker. But, like normal, the defense set the tone for Watervliet causing multiple turnovers and converting on them at the other end. The boys came out with a big victory in the end beating Gobles 70-39, improving their record to 7-0. On the defensive end it was a team effort spear headed by the play of Ashton Holdridge and Luke Traver. Disrupting the Tigers multiple times with their play. On offense the Panthers were paced by Brian Alden and Luke Traver with 16 points each, followed by Ashton Holdridge with 10. Watervliet has a huge rematch with Marcellus this Friday, meeting for the second time after pulling out a two point win. Nice job and good luck Panthers.
