The JV Lady Panthers dominated the net on the road last night at the Blackhawks gym winning in 2 sets. The key tonight was successful passing to our target zone allowing the offense to set up at the net. Leading the Panthers were Captain Maggie Lynch with 1 kill, 6 digs, 13 pts, 7 aces. Zoe Smith 1 kill, 4 digs, 7 pts, 2 aces. Katie Clark 7 kills, 5 pts, 3 aces. Courtney Stantz 2 digs, 2 pts, 1 ace. Mikayla Lee 4 pts, 3 digs. Jaelyn Pitre 6 assists. Jade Miller 2 digs.

Game Recap

The JV Football team traveled to Martin and cam home with a 52 to 6 victory. Zach Pickens threw for four TD’s (Bryant Kieft, Tyler Brant, Carlos Hernandez-2) and rushed for another two. Dylan Lunch rushed for a TD and Tyler Brant returned a fumble for another TD. JV’s are now 4-0 on the season.

Hannah Armstrong's defense helped lead the Lady Panthers to a victory over Fennville, in a four game match against the Blackhawks. After losing their first game, the Panthers made a few minor adjustments and went on to win the next three. Hannah Armstrong had 41 digs, making it nearly impossible for Fennville to score any points on her. Katie Shultz lead the team in kills with 15, while Kara Liles and Lexi Elston followed with 8 each. Lexi Kieft contributed with 28 assists.

The 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Hartford last night and came home with an impressive victory. The ladies took four straight sets from Hartford Indians. It was a great effort by all 22 girls. The passing and serving was a huge part of the nights success. Leading our girls serving was Emma Armstrong with 12 points and 7 aces. Grace Smith added 9 points and 3 aces. Other top servers were Katie Bailey, Bella Hook,, Alexis Burrows, Brionna Myers, and Emily Gittersonke. GREAT JOB LADIES!!

The Panther ladies opened up the conference cross country season with 2nd place finish at the 11-team Lawrence Jamboree. Gabby Tavolacci paced herself to am impressive second place finish with a time of 19:58. Brittney Johnson was 9th across the finish line with a 21:13. Martha Casiano ran a 22:18 for 18th place with Darbie Jones three spots back in 21st place. Bailey Evans brought the team scoring to an end with a 23:26 32nd place finish. Three new PRs were set on the evening as Kaela Morlock, Alyssa Hobson, and Melissa Swanson all covered the 5K course faster than on any of their previous attempts.

The Panther runners opened up the conference season on the fast trails of Lawrence with a 3rd place finish in the 11-team field. Bangor just edged out Watervliet for second finishing 1 point ahead. Brendan Daly raced his way to a second place finish and a new PR of 16:42. Patrick Lynch and Jobe Kerr were the next two Panthers finishing in 10th and 11th place with times of 17:48 and 17:49 (a new PR for Kerr). Reese Jones also beat the 18-minute mark coming across the line at 17:54 for 14th place. Valentin Casiano finished in 17th place while Brody Roland set a new PR and finished in 18th. Others who set new PRs on the day were Aron Casiano, Dominick Tavolacci, Ashton Holdrige, Nick Swanson, and Vincent Doneruse.

The Middle School Cross Country team traveled to Lawrence for the first all conference meet of the season. The team hadn't ran in a meet and a week and a half, and their hard work at practice showed as they cut anywhere from 20 seconds to 2 minutes off of their last times! Allie Pazera was the first girl to cross during the MS race, and Austin Roberts and Gus Hinch were not far behind her with a 4th place and 11th place finish. The 6th grade team dominated as Ezra Troyer, Sophie Tavolacci, and Natalie Bailey took 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the 6th grade race. The team travels to Bangor on Saturday for their next meet.

Game Recap

In their first game of the season, the WMS Panther football team squared off with the Bangor Vikings Wednesday evening pulling out the victory 34-0. The Panthers were lead by an overpowering defense and stout blocking from the wide receivers and offensive line. Quarterback Garrett Matthews completed 6 passes on the day and converted on 3 key run plays, one for a score. Two of Garrett’s passes wound up for huge plays to Jacob Aldrich and Brighton Fitzgerald. Running backs Matt Melcher and Jaylen Taylor each had touchdowns and Jeremiah Speck added 2 more scores and a 65 yard punt return. Brighton Fitgerald, Eric Kehrer and Allen Chapin each had interceptions in the game. The Panthers are once again home next Wednesday versus Fennville. Coach T would also like to thank the very enthusiastic Panther Cheer Squad and coach Diehl for a job well done! They kept the fans full of spirit and excitement the entire game.

Leading in kills for the Panthers was middle hitter Lexi Elston with 8 kills, while Kailee Cheek added 5, and Logan Mizwicki & Lexi Kieft each had 4.
