Cross Runners Shine at Regionals; Lowell & Casiano Advance to State Meet

The Panther runners had a very good day at a chilly Regional meet in Portage. The girls were gunning to qualify as a team for the State meet but came up just 8 points short as they finished 4th in the 16-team field. Miranda Lowell earned her way to next week's State meet as Regional Medalist finishing 15th overall with a new PR of 21:44. Katelyn Brown lowered her best time by 34 seconds running a 22:24 for 19th place. Rounding out the team's top three was Daniella Romero who showed true guts and determination fighting an injury to place 22nd in 22:42. Stephany Villarreal knocked off 29 seconds posting a new PR of 23:35. Sam Casiano will be joining Miranda at the State meet as he finished 11th overall with a time of 17:24 leading the boys team to an 8th place finish. This is the 15th straight year the Panther boys will be represented at the State meet. Two Panther boys wrapped up the season with shiny new PRs as Eathan Burnett improved by 63 seconds crossing the line in 20:17 whle Connor Van Lente knocked off 36 seconds for a 20:38.
