Panther Runners Battle at Portage Invitational

The Panther cross country teams competed at the huge Portage Invitational on Saturday with the girls placing 17th and the boys placing 31st out of 44 teams in the Division 3 race. The boys competed first as Sam Casiano led the way with a 17:23. The next four Panthers all crossed the line with new season best times as Tony Perez, Gabe Martinez, Eathan Burnett, and Daniel Perez continue their mid-season improvement. The ladies were led by Daniella Romero who was just 2 seconds off her personal best with a 21:28. Miranda Lowell knocked 18 seconds off her previous best this season to post a 21:55. Katelyn Brown and Alex Zuniga held down the third and fourth spots with solid races and Payton Yeske grabbed the fifth and final scoring spot with a season best 23:23. The Panther runners next take to the trails Thursday at the SAC Championship meet at Gilmore Car Museum.
