Watervliet Boy’s Soccer battled throughout a tough matchup against state-ranked Kalamazoo Christian, ultimately falling 3-0, despite a strong defensive effort from the Panthers. Watervliet’s defense kept the visitors from generating consistent scoring opportunities for much of the match, with the Panthers doing a good job of limiting the visitors effectiveness in the attacking third. Senior Adrian Hernandez played an important role in the defensive effort, helping disrupt the opposition and helping clear any dangerous chances. The Panthers’ biggest challenge came in transition, where a few costly mistakes allowed Kalamazoo Christian to capitalize and turn those opportunities into goals. Despite the loss, the team showed plenty of positives against one of the state’s top-ranked teams. The team will look to bounce back when they travel to Constantine this Wednesday.
