Game 1 First-Inning Spurt Leads Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers Past Decatur Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers scored 11 runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Decatur 14-4 on Thursday. Layla Klimkiewicz drew a walk, scoring one run, Aubrey Winnell drew a walk, scoring one run, Aiyanna Forrester grounded out, scoring one run, Olivia Lurkins drew a walk, scoring one run, Gia Berry drew a walk, scoring one run, Eliza Brooks drew a walk, scoring one run, Mattie Medlin drew a walk, scoring one run, Klimkiewicz singled, scoring two runs, Winnell drew a walk, scoring one run, and Forrester grounded out, scoring one run. Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers scored on a wild pitch, and Medlin singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers added one run in the third making the score 14-4. Klimkiewicz earned the win for Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers. Klimkiewicz hit an inside the park home run in the first inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the fourth inning, scoring two. Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers jumped into the lead in the bottom of the first when Klimkiewicz hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Brooklyn Woollett laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run. Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring six runs on three hits to take the lead, 10-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Sophia Rader that drove in two. Watervliet Junior Varsity Panthers added one run in the third.
