The Watervliet Panthers traveled to Buchanan on Thursday for a tough non-conference doubleheader matchup against the seventh-ranked Bucks and came away with a strong performance. The Panthers’ offense came out swinging, racking up 11 hits on the night. Ava Trapp led the charge with four singles and two RBIs, while Kendal Kiefer added two singles and an RBI. Emma Kirksey contributed with a single, double, and RBI, and Sienna Bulat chipped in with a single. Leila Liberto-Taylor delivered a big hit with a triple and three RBIs, and Rae Prestidge added a double and two RBIs to power the Panthers’ offense. Defensively, the Panthers were sharp, with Ava Thomas and Kate Kostrzewa making key plays to keep Buchanan’s offense in check. Emma Kirksey earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete game and keeping the Bucks off balance throughout. Watervliet heads into the nightcap looking to continue its winning ways.
