Watervliet earned a hard-fought victory over Covert in a game marked by cold weather and a squad operating with limited depth. Despite having fewer players, the team displayed determination and smart play throughout the match. Marley Alsup would score her first goal of the season, just 3 minutes into the game, after a key pass from Katelyn Brown would place her right in front of goal to put the Panthers in the lead. Ten minutes later, Katelyn would add a goal of her own to put the Panthers up by two. Alex Zuniga played a key role in the midfield and the team’s defensive discipline was crucial in maintaining control and keeping Covert’s opportunities to a minimum. The team will have a short recovery as they face Schoolcraft tomorrow evening at home for a 5pm kickoff.
