Girls 8th Maroon Gets Two Victories

The 8th Grade girls had two games at the all area tournament Saturday afternoon. The first game saw the Panthers facing off against Lakeshore. The Lady panthers used amazing full court defense to crush the lancers. The Panthers took a 22-4 lead at halftime and never looked back. Alexa Cruz had a team season high 11 steals to lead the Panthers into a lot of fastbreak opportunities, while Amayah Payton came off the bench and grabbed 9 rebounds. The final score was 44-6. McKinley Adams led all scorers with 16, Alexa Cruz 10, Aubrey Pratt 8, Candace Zyla 4, Elizabeth Ledesma 2, Jenna Bartee 2, and Amayah Payton 2. Game two saw the Panthers facing off against conference foe the South Haven Rams. The Rams came out very physical, but the Lady Panthers used their speed and quick hands to pressure the South Haven guards. McKinley Adams led the Panthers with 5 steals, leading to fastbreaks. After a tight first quarter Amiah Apreza and McKinley Adams hit back to back threes helping push the panthers to a 19-10 halftime lead. The girls started quick in the third outscoring South Haven 12-6 and put the game out of reach. With a final score of 35-22 the Lady Panthers improve to 5-1 on the season. McKinley Adams led all scorers with 17, Elizabeth Ledesma 6, Jenna Bartee 4, Amiah Apreza 4, Alexa Cruz 2, and Aubrey Pratt 2.
