The Panther boys cross country team finished 1st in a field of 14 teams at the New Buffalo Invitational. The squad was able to outpace the second-place Bridgman Bees on a wet and winding course that included some very narrow trails. Gus Hinch again led the effort finishing 6th overall with a time of 19:20. The team’s depth then kicked in as Watervliet put 8 runners in the top 22 spots. Kody Edmonds crossed the line in 19:46 for 7th with Kade Van Niel grabbing 12th in 20:00. Trever Pelton and Ezra Troyer brought the team’s scoring to an end by capturing 16th and 17th in 20:15 and 20:23. Alex Isbrecht and Austin Roberts paced each other to 19th and 20th place finishes with times of 20:42 and 20:43.
Some nice improvements were made by freshmen Nathan Isbrecht, Camdon Geisler, and Jake Kroepel who each knocked significant amounts of time off of their first race of the season.
