Game Recap

The Watervliet Panthers Middle School football team traveled up to Martin to take on the a much improved Clippers team. The Panthers was able to come away with a 22-8 victory to go 2-0 on the season and remain unbeaten. The Panthers were able to put a touchdown on the board in each of the first three quarters to take a 22-0 lead into the fourth quarter. The defense was solid the whole night not giving up much offense to the Clippers lead by Isaiah Yazel and Derrick Cox with 7 tackles each and Austin Willmoth with 5 respectively. Kade VanNeil came up with a big interception in the end zone stopping the Clippers drive in the first half. The offense struggled a little due to the fact of moving some players around because of some key injuries, but were able to put together some long drives that and put points on the board. Leading the Panthers on offense was Don Smith with 70 yards passing and 88 yards rushing and a touchdown. Jerry Unger had 76 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Isiah Yazel punched in a touchdown from 4 yards out and his first career touchdown. This was a great team win, many guys stepped in and stepped up when they got into the game. The Middle School Panthers are back in action next week as the Bangor Vikings comes into town for our first home game of the year, game time is 5pm. Come out and see the future of Watervliet Panthers football.
