Bangor High School
Watervliet High School
The Watervliet JV Boys played in their first overtime game of the season, and came out with a 55-48 victory against the Bangor Vikings last Friday. The game went back and forth with the Vikings leading after the 1st and 3rd quarter, and the Panthers leading after the 2nd quarter and ultimately overtime. Though they started slow, the Panthers showed their mental toughness as a team in the middle of the 4th quarter and into overtime. When they needed it most, they stepped up their defensive effort, and got east buckets on the offensive end. This mental toughness continued into overtime as LA Smith hit 3 key free throws at the end to ice the game for the Panthers.
Watervliet was led in scoring by Sheldon Tobar with 13, Trent Boone with 11, and Garrett Matthews and LA Smith both chipped in 10 apiece.
The JV Panthers are now 15-3 on the season as they enter their final week.
They will face the Hackett Catholic Central Fighting Irish on Tuesday at 5:30, and the Delton-Kellogg Panthers on Thursday at 5:30.
