Game Recap

The Watervliet JV Panthers got a hard fought win last night vs. the Hartford Indians in Panther Gymnasium. The Panthers came out strong in the first half as they were patient and moved the ball exceptionally well to get great shots up against the Indians 2-3 zone defense. After taking a 33-15 lead into halftime, the Panthers looked to come out and put the Indians away in the 2nd half. That was not the case however, as they Indians used scrappy defense to force Panther turnovers which resulted in layups on their end. This brought Hartford back within 10 of Watervliet at the end of the 3rd. The Panthers then showed great poise and confidence coming out of the 3rd as they weathered the Indians run to keep the lead at double digits as they ultimately won by a score of 63-49.
Leading the Panthers in scoring were Trent Boone with 15, Sheldon Tobar with 12, Garrett Matthews with 11, and Ryan Chisek with 10.
The win last night pushes the JV Panthers record to 14-2 overall on the season, and 14-1 in the conference.
The Panthers are looking forward to the opportunity to travel to Fennville on Monday night for a 7:00 tipoff against the Blackhawks, who handed the Panthers their only conference loss back in January.
Watervliet Power.
Panther Pride.
