Meet Recap

The girls Panther cross country team had their best ever showing at the annual Berrien County Meet placing second out of thirteen teams only finding themselves behind the third-ranked in Division 2 St. Joe squad. After St. Joe’s top girls gobbled up the first five spots, Watervliet started to show the county what we’ve got as the next three spots all went to the Panthers. Allie Pazera broke the 21-minute barrier for the first time running a 20:47 for 6th place. Taylor Shafer also busted the 21-minute mark posting a 20:55 for 7th place. Coming in right at 21-flat was Gabby Tavolacci for 8th place. This marks 4 straight years that Gabby has been in the county’s top ten. Brittney Johnson kept the good news coming as she grabbed 23rd place with a season best 22:36. Martha Casiano ended the scoring for the team as she came across the line in 22:59 and 32nd place. The final two varsity spots went to Melissa Swanson at 23:25 and Bailey Evans at 23:47 which were both season bests. Congrats to Jade Miller, Aliea Chapin, Laura Wagner, and Lauren Zabel for all running new PRs.
