Meet Recap

The Watervliet boys claimed the 8-team Teske Invitational championship by the thinnest of possible margins to make it 5 straight years the boys have brought home the meet’s first-place trophy. Both Watervliet and Bangor finished with 39 points so it was time to institute the tie-breaker: which team had the better sixth runner. Watervliet’s sixth runner Dominick Tavolacci finished ahead of Bangor’s sixth runner giving the Panthers the tie-breaker and the title. Brendan Daly and Jobe Kerr made up half of the 4-man pack that broke away early in the race. The two worked together well in the middle of the race to push the pace and, as a result, drop the other two competitors to make it a two-man Panther breakaway. Daly got to the finish line first in 17:28 to defend his individual title from last year with Jobe Kerr right behind him in 17:30 for second place. Daly’s first place finish marks the fourth straight year a Panther boy has been the individual champion at this race. Brody Roland’s strong kick got him in front of a large pack of runners at the end to grab a very important 7th place in 18:40. Brent Simmons came through in that large pack to finish in 13th place with an 18:52. Reese Jones was next across the finish with a 19:24 16th place finish. The ever-important 6th-man Dominick Tavolacci grabbed 19th place in 20:21. Nick Swanson rounded out the seven varsity finishers crossing the line in 21:05 for 22nd place.
