The Watervliet boys kicked off the 2015 campaign racing in the Viking Stampede held on the trails of Dowagiac Middle School. In a field of 8 teams that consisted mainly of Division 2 schools, the Panthers held their own grabbing 4th place and just missing 3rd place by a solitary point. Junior Jobe Kerr led the charge finishing 5th in 17:46 which set a new PR. Senior Brendan Daly was the next Panther across the finish line in 12th with 18:17. Senior Brody Roland and Junior Brent Simmons finished 20th and 21st with times of 18:59 and 19:02, respectively. Sophomore Dominick Tavolacci rounded out the top 5 for Watervliet coming across the line in 33rd with 20:18. Freshmen Austin Roberts ran an impressive first high school race finishing in 21:16, just one second ahead of Sophomore Nick Swanson. Junior Haydon Richards showed fine form with 21:31 and Junior Ryan Lefor improved greatly over last year’s performance on the course with a 22:26. Sophomore Klayton Marshall and Freshmen Tom Swanson each raced in their first ever cross country event and raced each other to the finish line crossing it in 23:10 and 23:12.
