The Lady Panthers hosted its first MHSAA Soccer game on Tuesday night and at the same time won its first ever MHSAA post season game over the Lawton Blue Devils 2 to 1. After losing their final game of the regular season last week in Lawton 3 to 0, the Lady Panthers showed true “GRIT” as they worked hard for 80 minutes to earn a right to play in the MHSAA district semi finals on Thursday at Kalamazoo College. Martha Casiano showed some outstanding ball handling and a strong foot as she scored the lone Panther goal in the first half. The Lady Blue Devils tied the score just before the half. Just ten minutes into the second half Ally Smith booted a 25 yard free kick over the wall of the Blue Devil defense and outstretched arms of the goalie for the winning goal. The rest of the game was dominated by outstanding TEAM defense by the Lady Panthers. The Lady Panthers will face Bangor Thursday night at 6:00 pm.
