Meet Recap

The Panther cross country squad opened up the 2017 season with its annual trip to Lake Township Park for the Bridgman Invitational. It was the more youthful members of the team that led the way as 5 of the team’s top 6 runners on the day were freshmen and sophomores. In a field of 14, the Panthers finished 5th, just 5 points away from 4th place Bridgman. Gus Hinch was the first Watervliet runner to cross the finish capturing 17th place in 19:13. Kody Edmonds was next with 19:39 for 21st place. Freshman Ezra Troyer proved that he is ready for the step up to the 5K high school distance as he was 25th across the line with a 20:12. Trever Pelton and Austin Roberts rounded out the team’s scoring with 31st and 37th place finishes.
