Game Recap

The Watervliet Panthers won their first district game tonight in Bridgman against the Eau Claire Beavers.
The boys came out strong by owning the paint on both ends of the floor. They worked the ball around well against Eau Claire’s 2-3 zone and went into the second quarter with an 18-9 lead.
In the second quarter, the Beavers began to work the ball inside, as well as crashed the boards hard. Their hard work paid off as they came back to cut the Panther lead to only 2 at halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Panthers got back to their gameplan of working the ball inside and rebounding defensively to finish possessions. They worked their lead to 40-33 at the end of the third quarter.
During the fourth quarter the Panther continued to work the ball inside out, as well as got some key steals on defense to lead to transition points and free throws. The Panthers stayed strong, made some key free throws, and finished the game off with score of 60-46.
Key performers were:
Sheldon Tobar – 14 points
Dan Cluster – 12 points
Bryant Kieft – 11 points
Cameron Rendo – 8 points
The Panthers looks to get their second playoff win as the take on Cassopolis at Bridgman High School on Wednesday night.
