Game Recap

The Delton-Kellogg Panthers visits Panther stadium Friday night for a homecoming showdown. It was a battle of the Panthers ultimately controlled by the home standing Watervliet Panthers.

The evening started as a back and forth affair with the teams trading a trio of touchdowns that left DK up 21-20 early in the second quarter. However, the home team took over from there scoring 22 unanswered points on the way to a 42-21 halftime lead.

Watervliet continued to please the homecoming crowd with an offensive onslaught in the second half. The Panthers totaled 64 points on the night rolling up 686 yards of offense, a single game school record. The final score saw the home team win decisively, 64-34.

Senior Quarterback Cameron Rendo and senior WR Tyler Brant both had record setting nights. Rendo was 27/36 passing for a school record 553 yards. This included 5 TD passes. Brant was the top target on the night racking up a school record 336 yards receiving including two touchdowns. Junior RB Zack Pickens and Junior WR Trent Boone each had big play touchdowns on the night as well.

Defensively, Ryan Chisek and Sheldon Tobar led the Panthers improved run defense, while Boone added two interceptions.

The Panthers (5-2, 4-1) finish up a three game home stand next Friday as long time rival Decatur (4-3) visits Panther Stadium. It will be senior night, with kickoff set for 7:00.
